Last year saw us find out some disappointing news about rising team ace Eury Perez. We now know when the young star will be back from Tommy John Surgery. It does appear that the season will see the young pitcher in action, but unfortunately it does appear that we will have to wait for that to happen. With The Fish's rotation already in rough shape, his return will be badly needed.

Miami Marlins ace Eury Perez is on his way back this season.

Eury Perez was a top prospect for the Miami Marlins. He debuted for The Fish in the 2023 season. That season, he pitched to a 3.15 ERA/4.11 FIP, with 10.6 K/9 and 3.1 BB/9 in 19 games and 91.1 innings pitched. That was an impressive performance, and we were all saddened and shocked when it turned out that he was out for the 2024 season.

It's unknown how good Eury will be in 2024, but he will probably still have some rust from the surgery and all of the missed time. That is obviously not very promising, but I expect him to be back to his old self by the time of the 2026 season.

Here's what Eury Perez said about his recovery process:

"I'll say I feel very good right now. I will say 75 percent, just to put it out there in a number. But we're doing very well, just getting better. Throwing bullpens already. I'm throwing a lot of fastballs and also changeups."

This is good news, as it certainly seems as if he's basically almost fully healthy. I expect Eury to obviously pitch in the Minor Leagues in the lead-up to pitching for the Miami Marlins in the 2025 season. He thanked Sandy Alcantara for his help and added this:

“I will say the thing that I learned the most is patience. You have to continue learning about that, learn about your body, your strength, and continue working on that, which is going to strengthen those little things that you've got to work on.”

It's going to be exciting to see Eury Perez pitch for the Miami Marlins in the 2025 season.
