Another Miami Marlins OF is injured
The Miami Marlins are dealing with injuries to multiple players, including star CF Jazz Chisholm Jr. Unfortunately, the injuries are just not stopping for The Fish. This time it's to OF Jonathan Davis. Luckily for The Fish, another OF has been filling in quite well to say the least. How long will Jonathan Davis be out for? How serious is his injury? Let's take a look at this latest Miami Marlins injury.
Miami Marlins OF Jonathan Davis is injured.
Jonathan Davis has a meniscus injury in his right knee, which sounds like a pretty ominous injury. Davis will be getting surgery today in fact. So how did the injury happen? Davis dove to catch a line drive by the St. Louis Cardinals' Tommy Edman, but landed on his knee, which led to him being removed from the game on a cart. Dane Myers replaced him in CF right after.
It's actually not known when he will be back, but he's been placed on the 10-day injured list for now. It's obvious that he will be out for far longer than that based on needing surgery for his injury. I assume that a more accurate timeline will be announced in the near future. I hope that he will be able to return before the end of the season.
Jonathan Davis is a 31 year old right-handed hitter, who debuted as a 26 year old with the Toronto Blue Jays in 2018. He played for Toronto from 2018 to 2020. During that time, he was shuffled between the Major Leagues and the Minors. He batted .200/.286/.296, with 3 home runs and 12 RBI in 70 games and 135 AB. It's no surprise, that he was shuffled based on such poor results.
Davis split 2021 between Toronto and the New York Yankees. He batted .126/.252/.172 with a home un and 4 RBI, in 64 games and 87 AB. The Bronx Bombers moved on from him after that one season. Davis spent 2022 with the Milwaukee Brewers, batting .224/.344/.237, with 0 home runs and 4 RBI in 37 games and 76 AB. In 2023 with the Miami Marlins, he's batting .244/.307/.378, with 2 home runs and 10 RBI in 34 games and 90 AB. This has so far been Davis's best season yet.
