There is finally an update on an injured Miami Marlins starting pitcher. The Fish actually have not one but two injured starting pitchers. The one I'm talking about today is Trevor Rogers, who emerged in 2021 as a potential National League Cy Young award contender. Things have not been as good for him since, and this injury is not helping things. So what's the update? Read on...

Miami Marlins starting pitcher Trevor Rogers is luckily not seriously injured.

Before I begin talking about the update on Trevor Rogers, let's begin with injured relief pitcher Steven Okert. Okert has done a solid job for the Miami Marlins in 2021-2022, delivering a combined 2.89 ERA/4.35 FIP with 10.6 K/9 and 4.2 BB/9 in 94 games and 87.1 innings pitched. Okert had great ERA's but poor FIP's, calling his results into some question. Okert has been activated from the injured list, on which he was placed due to a left adductor strain.

Now back to the topic at hand... Trevor Rogers has been placed on the 15-day injured list with a left biceps strain. This doesn't sound like a particularly serious issue, so Rogers will hopefully be back in a few weeks to continue his return to 2021 form. Trevor Rogers was of course phenomenal back in 2001, when he delivered a 2.64 ERA/2,55 FIP with 10.6 K/9 and 3.1 BB/9 in 25 games and 133.0 innings pitched.

Things didn't go as well for Trevor Rogers in 2022, he produced an abysmal 5.47 ERA/4.35 FIP with 8.9 K/9 and 3.8 BB/9 in 23 games and 17.0 innings pitched. It turned out that he was pitching injured and needed time to get back into form. He seems to have done just that this season. Trevor Rogers delivered a 3.29 ERA in 13.2 innings pitched over the last two weeks. He actually had a 2.00 ERA in his last 9.0 innings pitched.

I'm pretty excited that Trevor Rogers doesn't appear to be seriously injured. He was clearly pitching the way that he did in 2021, well on his way to once again becoming a top of the rotation starting pitcher.
