Marlins 2024 important dates: pitchers and catchers, and more
The 2024 season should be exciting and it all starts when pitchers and catchers report in February
The 2024 Miami Marlins season is about to kick off and there are several dates you need to know. The first part of the season is when pitchers and catchers report and nothing can be more exciting than that as hopes for the coming year are high. The Marlins will have an interesting path this season without Sandy Alcantara and with a potential few more deals that Fish fans hope are in the works.
We mused before about potential trades and moves the Marlins could make to upgrade their roster. The big question for Fish faithful is can the Marlins make it back to the postseason in 2024 or was 2023 a fluke? The Marlins have kept power hitter Josh Bell for another season, and newcomer Jake Burger will provide a spark of his own. There is a lot to look forward to and it all starts soon.
When do Marlins pitchers and catchers report in 2024?
The Miami Marlins start with pitchers and catchers reporting on February 15th and the question remains who will the Marlins have to pitch on that date? The Marlins could potentially still work out a trade that sends one starting pitcher away, and that would make the February 15th start even more exciting.
The full Marlins squad starts practice on February 20th. There are also questions that remain about the final Marlins roster and who will start at shortstop and DH. Those questions could remain at that time and it becomes a competition or a big trade or signing could materialize between now and then. Time will tell.
The Marlins kickoff the 2024 Spring Training games on February 24th with split-squad action against St. Louis at Dean Stadium in Jupiter. Games continue every day after that through March 6, so get ready for highlights and to see how the young prospects are shaping up. Spring Training concludes March 24th with their final game before opening day. Opening day is on March 28th at home versus the Pittsburgh Pirates at 4:10.
