Marlins and division rivals affected by the All-Star Game selections
Jazz Chisholm Jr. should be in the ASG conversation
The All-Star Game is coming up next month and we already talked about some pitcher options. What about the hitting side of things? The Trade Deadline is coming up and we might not see some Miami Marlins players on the team anymore. In the meantime, let's take a look at what Marlins hitters and division rival hitters can make the team.
The All-Star Game will feature Miami Marlins players.
Every team sends players to the All-Star Game, however when it comes to starters at hitting positions, not everyone will get that chance. A certain level of accomplishment is achieved by being named the starter. One position that comes to mind is first base. As red hot as Josh Bell has been lately, he's certainly not going to be the starter at the All-Star Game. The likely candidate is division rival star Bryce Harper of the Philadelphia Phillies.
Third base will also sadly not be handed over to Jake Burger. The most likely candidate to start is another division rival: Alec Bohm of once again Philly. He's having a break-out season and will likely be rewarded for it with a starting spot at the All-Star Game. There's still a chance for Austin Riley of the Atlanta Braves. I doubt he'll get the selection over Bohm however.
What I'm really interested in the OF. I strongly believe that Miami Marlins CF Jazz Chisholm Jr. deserves to be a starter, but realistically that probably won't happen. While injuries will surely affect the selections, it does seem very likely that the spots will go to three others. Who are those three? San Diego Padres RF Fernando Tatis Jr., Chicago Cubs CF Cody Bellinger and Milwaukee Brewers LF Christian Yelich.
Jazz has been better than Bellinger this season, but sadly I expect Bellinger to receive more votes. I don't see it as fair and believe that Jazz should get them instead, but again just being realistic. You can make your vote here by the way. Let's try to get Jazz Chisholm Jr. as one of the starting OF's in the 2024 All-Star Game.
