Marlins division rivals are having a surprising season

It's frustrating to watch as Miami Marlins' division rivals the New York Mets have a player in the MVP race. More importantly, they're on a playoff run that included a surprising comeback just on Friday. The comeback included an upcoming free agent as the hero. That hero was none other than Mets first baseman Pete Alonso. Despite it being frustrating to watch, I also have to give them credit.

Miami Marlins division rivals are having an "amazing" season.

The New York Mets were supposed to take this season "off", improving the farm system and preparing for contention in further seasons. Instead, the Mets made a surprise playoff run with close games and comebacks. It would be nice if this happened with the Miami Marlins, but at least we can watch some good games for now.

It's surprising how things turned out for the Mets this season. They needed a special re-scheduled doubleheader on the final day of the season to make it in. In a remarkable comeback win, the Mets beat the Atlanta Braves 8-7 to make it into the playoffs as the second National League Wild Card team! This is almost certainly one of the greatest single games in Mets history.

The National League Wild Card playoffs were next in line, and the Mets took on the Milwaukee Brewers as the underdogs. They didn't even get to wait, but SS Francisco Lindor and company didn't even get any rest. Despite not resting, the team won Game 1 in Milwaukee 8-4. That was a great start to the series, but they couldn't get the sweep done as then they lost 5-3 the next day. This led to the final game on Thursday October 3.

Thursday October 3 saw the Mets come back from being down 2-0 in the ninth inning, to win 4-2. Pete Alonso saved the team with a game-winning home run right at the end of the game. That's one way to earn the big contract in free agency this year! The Mets probably won't go all the way, but what a run for their fans. Let's just hope that the Miami Marlins have a run like that next season...or better.
