Miami Marlins make more roster shaking moves
More roster moves were made by the Miami Marlins. As we think about which former players could make the Hall of Fame and deal with roster moves that have already taken place, we now have to deal with this. I'm curious to see what happens with the involved players as some of them are literally playing for their jobs.
Miami Marlins keep making roster moves this season.
Let's start with CF Derek Hill coming back. The 2014 first round pick (number 23) by the Detroit Tigers, is coming off of the injured list. He's now on his way back to the Miami Marlins. He's been batting .238/.262/.427, with 7 home runs and 24 RBI in 30 games and 100 AB. He played for three teams this season. He suited up for the Texas Rangers and San Francisco Giants as well this season. Specifically for The Fish, he batted .227/.242/.409 in 25 games and 88 AB.
Another player coming off of the injured list is utility hitter Vidal Brujan. Brujan has batted .224/.307/.322, with 2 home runs and 16 RBI in 98 games and 245 AB. It's not an impressive line, but he's a versatile player, which is ultimately why he's on the team. Brujan's ability to play multiple positions is what ultimately makes him valuable to The Fish.
Who are the players coming off of the Major League roster in their place? Infielder Jose Devers has been designated for assignment. He batted .250/.250/.500 in 3 games and 4 AB. He didn't hit any home runs or drive in any RBI in the process. It was a very small sample size, but we'll see if the 24 year old will get another chance, as he's been designated for assignment.
Utility hitter David Hensley has been demoted to AAA, so he's at least still staying on the team. The 28 year old will likely get another chance to help the Major League team at some point as well. Neither Hensley or Devers are important pieces of the team's core, but depth is always important. We'll see if either plays for the Miami Marlins again.
