Miami Marlins make some more roster moves
It has already been a busy day for the Miami Marlins. It's now gotten even busier! More roster moves have been made and we will now go through all of them. One of them is about the return of a future superstar to the team. Oh boy. Get ready for a ride here as there's a lot for us to get through!
More roster moves for the Miami Marlins.
Let's start off with the best news. SS Xavier Edwards has been reinstated from the 10-day injured list!! This is great news as Edwards has been batting an incredible .349/.428/.436, with a home run and 17 RBI in 47 games and 172 AB. He does however also have a remarkable 22 stolen bases.
Adding to the bullpen depth, the Miami Marlins claimed LHP Anthony Veneziano from the Kansas City Royals. The 27 year old briefly pitched this season, pitching to a 4.50 ERA/2.68 FIP, with 9.0 K/9 and 4.5 BB/9 in just 2 games and 2.0 innings pitched. It's a very very small sample size, but the strikeout rate and the FIP are looking pretty promising. Let's hope that he has some surprises in store for us whenever he gets called up to the Major Leagues.
Another lefty reliever Josh Simpson has been reinstated from the 15-day IL and demoted back down to the Minors. He actually is yet to pitch in the Majors, despite being called up earlier this season. Righty reliever Emmanuel Ramirez has been designated for assignment. He's pitched to a 6.97 ERA/4.63 FIP, with 9.1 K/9 and 3.5 BB/9 in 15 games and 20.2 innings pitched. Other than the strikeout rate, the 30 year old has been pretty bad.
Left-handed relief pitcher Kent Emanuel has pitched to a terrible 6.62 ERA/6.46 FIP, with 6.1 K/9 and 3.6 BB/9 in 12 games and 17.2 innings pitched. He's rightly been designated for assignment as well. Righty reliever Anthony Maldonado has been called up to the Majors. He's pitched to a poor 6.23 ERA/4.10 FIP, with 5.5 K/9 and 3.5 B/9 in 11 games and 13.0 innings pitched this season. The FIP is at least kind of promising.
Finally, backup C Ali Sanchez has been designated for assignment as well. He batted .167/.211/.190, with 0 home runs and 4 RBI in 31 games and 84 AB this season. He's been dreadful in other words. I suspect that the Miami Marlins aren't done making roster moves.
