The Miami Marlins are still working on improving the team and there's already some optimism for next season. It's time to take a look at The Fish's Minor League system and some interesting new developments. Some recent traded prospects may now be on the way to stardom with new teams. On the flip side, there's a prospect who could be breaking out this upcoming season.

Miami Marlins prospect news are....interesting to say the least.

The Fish traded LHP Jake Eder in the Jake Burger trade with the Chicago White Sox. Burger has been phenomenal for the Miami Marlins so far, batting .303/.355/.505 in 53 games and 198 AB. Eder still gets hype for his strikeout ability, and his plus fastball and slider. He just needs to stay healthy. He has a career 3.80 ERA in the Minors. I like Burger's potential but am concerned that Eder might develop into a solid starting pitcher.

RHP Santiago Suarez is another prospect that was traded by the Miami Marlins. Suarez was traded to the Tampa Bay Rays in a minor deal in November 2022. Suarez pitched in both the Florida Complex League and Single A in 2023. He had a 1.52 ERA, with 52 strikeouts and just 11 walks, in 59 1/3 innings pitched across both levels. Tampa is great at evaluating prospects, so I'm concerned that Tampa might have found a future mid to top of the rotation starter.

Luckily it's not all concerning news... the Miami Marlins also have a potential breakout prospect as well. I'm of course talking about LHP Thomas White. White wasn't someone that I looked upon with too much optimism before, but he's changing my opinion. White is actually The Fish's #2 prospect, and was paid an over the slot $4.1 million to sign with the team. That's actually a record for a prospect from New England. He's been said to have "three plus pitches" and "effortless delivery" by MLB.com.

I'm concerned about the Miami Marlins potentially missing out with Jake Eder and Santiago Suarez. I'm however excited about Thomas White and his potential going forward.
