The Miami Marlins are winning one series after another these days. Despite this, the MLB power rankings have The Fish as #23 out of 30 teams! How is that even remotely possible? How can the 9-8 team be rated so low? I don't think that this rating is fair at all, so let's take a deep dive into the rankings and see what MLB.com was thinking here...

MLB.com underrated the Miami Marlins in their power rankings.

The Atlanta Braves are rated first on the MLB Power Rankings and I'm not questioning that. The 2021 World Champions have been phenomenal so far this season. The Tampa Bay Rays are second after almost going undefeated for a record amount of games. In fact, I'm not questioning the top five on the list at all. It's the rest of the list that bothers me.

The Los Angeles Angels (#13) haven't made the playoffs since 2014 and don't impress me this season. They have a worse record than the Miami Marlins (8-8) and aren't particularly impressive to say the least. I also fully expect them to trade their star Shohei Ohtani at the trading deadline. The Boston Red Sox (#22) have a worse record too at 8-9, and have a mess of a pitching staff unlike The Fish.

The St. Louis Cardinals (#17) were supposed to be good this season, but are 7-10. They also don't look like the contenders that many expected them to be. They're scoring a below average 4.12 runs per game and have a below average 4.44 team ERA. The Baltimore Orioles (#14) have the same record as the Miami Marlins, but have a terrible below average 5.27 team ERA. They're definitely less likely than the Miami Marlins to make the playoffs.

The Seattle Mariners (#15) are 8-9 and don't seem to have the hitting this season either. They're scoring a below average 4.53 runs per game and I don't see that changing any time soon. The Philadelphia Phillies (#20) are 6-10 and recently lost a home series to the Miami Marlins. How are they ahead of the Miami Marlins? Tell me how that makes sense. I can go on and on, but it's clear that the list is pretty unfair and unreasonable. The Miami Marlins are underrated.
