One of the worst Miami Marlins signings is now injured

Avisail Garcia has not been a good signing for the Miami Marlins. Quite the opposite actually. He may easily be on the list of the 5 worst signings. That gives me an idea... Anyway, a lot of fans are understandably wondering about why he's not yet been released. You'd think he would be gone by now. Now, he's injured yet again.

The Avisail Garcia signing continues to hurt the Miami Marlins.

Signing Avisail Garcia never made sense for the Miami Marlins. The inconsistent RF played for the Detroit Tigers, Chicago White Sox and Tampa Bay Rays from 2012 to 2021. He batted .270/.325/.431 in that time. He had such varied results throughout his career, that you could flip a coin as to which version of Garcia would show up in any given season.

We can perhaps rightly assume that Kim Ng thought that she was signing the guy who batted .262/.330/.490, with 29 home runs and 86 RBI in 135 games and 461 AB. She probably didn't expect to sign the guy who batted .245/.307/.385, with 12 home runs and 51 RBI in 120 games and 413 AB.

Avisail Garcia batted .224/.266/.317, with 8 home runs and 35 RBI in 98 games and 357 AB. That was worth a terrible -1.1 WAR. He followed that up in 2023 by batting .185/.241/.315, with 3 home runs and 12 RBI in 37 games and 108 AB. That was worth -0.5 WAR. 2024 hasn't exactly been much of an improvement to this production. He currently has a .240/.255/.380, with 2 home runs and 2 RBI in 18 games and 50 AB. That production is worth -0.2 WAR. Let's just say that he's not helping the Miami Marlins.

Avisail now has a left hamstring strain and has been placed on the 10-day IL. He's probably going to be back to hurt the team some more soon enough. In the meantime, The Fish promoted OF Dane Myers to take his place on the active Major League roster. I hope that Myers will at least provide some excitement to the roster. An excitement that we're not getting with Avisail Garcia.
