The 2024 Miami Marlins season is unlikely to be remembered fondly in the future. Catching has been a complete disaster; pitching experiments didn't work out; shocking trades were made... it's been a disaster of a season. The Fish entered Monday with a 23-48 record, 24 games out of first place in the division and 12 games out of the final Wild Card spot. Now what?

Tough decisions are ahead for the Miami Marlins this season.

I may not be in the majority of Miami Marlins fans when it comes to how I look at things. As frustrating as seasons get, I don't get angry or frustrated if the team is doing badly. I just accept it and look for positives. My logic is that I'm a passionate fan who will never stop supporting my team and so as frustrating as the losing can get, there's nothing I can do about it other then hope for the best.

This season is basically over at this point and worrying about each game is pretty pointless. The only thing that matters now is next season and the future. Which players are sticking here long-term? Which ones should be signed to extensions? CF Jazz Chisholm Jr. is especially important when it comes to the latter question.

Next season should have some familiar returning aces, as well as hopefully a better off-season with the team's potential more immediately clear. Another thing to consider is the timeline of contention. That is something that it would make sense for Peter Bendix to be a bit more transparent about.

One big question that The Fish will have to answer is figuring out which starting pitchers will be traded. Jesus Luzardo will be one player to watch, as his chances of being trade by the Trade Deadline seem to be pretty high at this point. It may not be fully wise with potential inning limits affecting next season's starting pitchers, but if there's no plan to extend him, then this option will have to be considered.

At the end of the day, it's OK to be frustrated with the Miami Marlins losing games, but we need to focus on next season at this point.
