Which Miami Marlins are early All-Stars?
What's wrong with the Miami Marlins ace? Game one of the home series between The Fish and the Atlanta Braves was very disappointing. I have high hopes for the ace as do our other writers, but for now let's take our minds off of this problem. MLB.com made an interesting list about early All-Star game picks. Actually it's more All-Star picks for the month of April, but close enough right? I'm only looking at the NL side and more importantly the NL East.
The Miami Marlins are represented on the MLB All-Stars of April list.
I was really surprised to see how heavily the NL East was represented on their list. Very happy to see that too. Let's start with catcher, the Atlanta Braves got their new acquisition Sean Murphy on the list. He's currently batting .282/.413/.647 with 8 home runs and 22 RBI. That production will likely decline, but wow is that impressive. The NL East represented the NL at first base on the list too... The New York Mets' Pete Alonso made it on with a .248/.320/.558 batting line.
Alonso isn't hitting as good as Murphy, but is leading the Major Leagues in both home runs (11) and RBI (28). It certainly looks like he's deserving of a spot. Second base gets a representative from the Miami Marlins! Luis Arraez of course! The star second baseman has an otherworldly .438/.500/.551 batting line. He leads the Major Leagues in batting average and OBP!
The Philadelphia Phillies get a representative too... CF Brandon Marsh made it on the list. He is currently batting .337/.422/.640. It's another batting line that's likely to go down, but for now he's clearly playing like a star. Another OF on the list is Atlanta Braves RF Ronald Acuna Jr. Acuna is currently batting .363/.450/.584, which is of course very impressive. It certainly looks as if he's back to being his superstar self, after a "down" (by his standards) 2022 season.
As you can see most of the National League's All-Star team for April is NL East players. It's pretty clear what the best division in the game is.
