The Miami Marlins don't have too much hope for the 2025 season. There's at least some stars though. The farm system is what we're concerned about here however. Respected reporter Keith Law has recently ranked the MLB farm systems. So how did The Fish end up? Where is the team on the list? Did Peter Bendix improve the farm enough?
Miami Marlins farm system has an interesting placement.
Keith Law separated all of the teams into tiers. The top tier is obviously the best farm systems, while the latter tiers are with worse and worse farms. The top tier may be frustrating to look at. The Los Angeles Dodgers, the Boston Red Sox and the Seattle Mariners are in the first tier. With how much LA has spent on free agents over the last few years, it's insane that they also still have an elite farm. Both Boston and Seattle get good news too, as they try to return to contention.
The tier right below has the Arizona Diamondbacks, the Cleveland Guardians, the Chicago Cubs, the Detroit Tigers and the Cincinnati Reds. These teams are interesting, with all of them currently on the rise. The third tier has some Miami Marlins rivals. Those teams are the Philadelphia Phillies and the New York Mets. The other teams are the Tampa Bay Rays, Texas Rangers, Milwaukee Brewers, St. Louis Cardinals and the Chicago White Sox. As yuou can see the Miami Marlins are still not on the list.
The fourth tier includes the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Washington Nationals. It's quite a fall for both teams, who used to be higher on the list. The fifth tier finally includes the Miami Marlins, the New York Yankees, Baltimore Orioles and the Minnesota Twins. This is...not good news for The Fish. With all of the recent work on the farm, you'd think that the farm would've been rated higher.
The sixth tier has the Kansas City Royals, the Colorado Rockies, the San Diego Padres, the San Francisco Giants and the Toronto Blue Jays. The final seventh tier includes the Athletics, the Atlanta Braves, the Houston Astros and the Los Angeles Angels. I'm hoping for better news for the Miami Marlins in the near future.
