The Miami Marlins are narrowing down the list of managerial candidates. We've seen many candidates pop up in the news, but of course eventually it will come down to just one name. A few days ago we found out that there were two finalists for the position. The finalists were Will Venable and Craig Albernaz. Will Venable of course ended up going to the Chicago White Sox.

The Miami Marlins had two finalists for the managerial job.

Let's start with Will Venable, who of course chose Chicago instead. What made him a finalist for the Miami Marlins managerial job? Venable is very popular around the Major Leagues and would've had a managerial job already, had he not pulled himself out from being in the running. He spent around a decade as a bench coach for the Boston Red Sox, Texas Rangers and the Chicago Cubs. He certainly has the experience to take it a step further by managing.

Venable is a former Major League OF so he knows what it's like to actually play in Major League games. With the amount of demand that he's receiving around the Majors, it certainly looks like he knows what he's doing. It makes me pretty confident that the White Sox were right to give him the reins next season.

The other finalist for the Marlins managerial vacancy had been Craig Albernaz. Albernaz was a bullpen and catching coach for the San Francisco Giants. He then moved on to the Cleveland Guardians as their bench coach. He has experience with Marlins executives Peter Bendix and Gabe Kapler. He played in the Tampa Bay Rays Minor League system while Bendix was in charge. He was also working with San Francisco at the time that Kapler managed the team.

I'm very disappointed that Will Venable ended up choosing the Chicago White Sox. I thought that the Miami Marlins would've been a better destination for him, but he may not have been offered a deal and perhaps he had personal reasons why he chose Chicago. We will see how he will do in his first season over there.
