Weekly Recap (1/16/12-1/22/12)

It is Monday, which means it is time for our weekly recap. This past week returned MarlinManiac to its normal schedule. We have another busy week planned on MarlinManiac. Spring Training is just over a month away. We are prepping to have a great season. Without any further ado, here is a recap of what happened last week:

Will Stanifer:

• Is Yoennis Cespedes hurting his value by playing winter ball in the Dominican? This is the question Will examined. Cespedes got off to a slow start, but has picked it up a bit lately.
• The Miami Marlins announced their 22 non-roster invitees. There are a few names that you guys will recognize.

Cory Eucalitto:

• Cory, who has been busy since the holidays made his much anticipated return. Cory examined why Carlos Zambrano on reality television is a great idea.

James C. Etzbach Jr.:

• Showtime is close to booking the Marlins as their follow up act to the San Francisco Giants. The Giants were featured on “The Franchise” last season. The Marlins were an obvious choice because of the personalities they have collected in their clubhouse.

Matthew Schnur:

• Matthew examined the player that seems to be the odd man out when it comes to a position to play. Read more about what the 2012 season means to Chris Coghlan and his future.

Ehsan Kassim:

• The arbitration deadline was Tuesday at 12PM CT. The Marlins were able to come to terms with Juan Carlos Oviedo and Edward Mujica. The team was close on a deal with Emilio Bonifacio, but far apart with Anibal Sanchez.
• We continues the 1997 v. 2003 series with the poll of who was the better world series short stop for the Marlins. The polls closed at midnight this morning. Go check out the results.
• As most of you are aware, the SOPA bill that was threatened to pass, fell through. MarlinManiac made a post on Tuesday speaking out in opposition of this bill. I hope many of you signed the petition!
• I also brought you guys some updates on Prince Fielder and Yoennis Cespedes. Are either of them any closer to being Marlins? Check out the posts to find out.
