I made a prediction a few days ago and then it came true a few hours later. The Miami Marlins designated DH Jonah Bride for assignment. He ha snow been picked up by the Minnesota Twins. It makes sense to take a deeper look at the situation and analyze how this looks for both teams. Ultimately, The Fish won't miss the struggling slugger and Minnesota probably won't benefit much.

The Miami Marlins won't miss Jonah Bride.

Jonah Bride debuted with the Oakland Athletics in 2022, and played for the team in that and the 2023 season. He batted .192/.296/.232 over the two seasons. It was hardly impressive and he was in his late 20's as he moved on to the Miami Marlins. By that point, he certainly looked like he was never going to be anything much going forward.

There was no hype for Bride's arrival to The Fish, and there weren't any expectations for him to live up to. The slugger batted .276/.357/.461, with 11 home runs and 39 RBI in 71 games and 232 AB. He was worth 0.8 WAR for that performance and seemed to be breaking out as a serious on-base threat. This was very promising and looked to be the beginning of a breakout.

Unfortunately for Jonah, he wasn't a late bloomer after all. So far this season, he's batting .100/.200/.100, with no home runs and 2 RBI in 12 games and 40 AB. He's been worth a dreadful -0.5 WAR. It's hard to see what he can do for Minnesota, as he really has no track record of success besides last season and is already 29 years old.

What will Jonah Bride do for Minnesota going forward? I don't really expect much from him, but I do hope for his career's sake that he can get closer to his production from last season. At this point, The Fish will almost certainly not miss him and Minnesota is mostly just taking a chance and hoping that he'll deliver. It'll be interesting to see how things go this season in the next few months.
