The Miami Marlins are void of top-tier talent as they await potential breakouts from their slew of minor-league talent. However, fantasy baseball managers, particularly those who plan in deep (14+ teams) or keeper leagues, have plenty of Miami Marlins to choose from as they build a complete and stable roster.
The following four Fish has ideal targets in deeper fantasy baseball leagues.
1) Calvin Faucher, RP
The Marlins seem to have found their next closer. After trading All-Star Tanner Scott to the San Diego Padres, incumbent bullpen arm Calvin Faucher has secured 9th-inning duties in South Beach.
Faucher is among a unique class of closers. Some clubs have high win projections but a closer-by-committee approach. Others, like the Marlins, are expected to be one of the worst teams in baseball, yet, have a clear 9th-inning option.
Faucher is projected to post 22 saves and 67 strikeouts with a sub-4.00 ERA. Fantasy managers who play in deeper, roto leagues (or any format that values saves) would be wise to target Miami's closer in the latter rounds of their drafts.
2) Deyvison De Los Santos, 1B/DH
De Los Santos represents the ultimate boom-or-bust option. While the Marlins' prospect should not be drafted outside of keeper or dynasty leagues (or anything with a minor league roster), his premier power gives him the potential to have an impactful rookie campaign.
If he receives an early season callup, DLS is projected to post 15+ homers next season. However, his profile, which is eerily similar to former NL East Rookie of the Year Pete Alonso, give him the potential to be a league winner.
When De Los Santos' callup appears imminent, any managers with a free bench spot would be wise to consider adding the Fish's slugger.
3) Jesus Sanchez, OF
In an odd twist, Jesus Sanchez has become the most established batter in a rebuilding Miami depth chart. While the veteran has limited upside, he is a fascinating late-round target.
Sanchez is a boring option who will not inspire any excitement if drafted. However, the slugger is projected to record 20+ home runs, 70+ RBI, and 10+ steals with a .250+ batting average.
Savvy fantasy managers know that power upside is easy to find earlier in drafts. Unfortunately, home runs upside quickly dries up in the later rounds. Sanchez is a sneaky source of power and speed without killing any categories in roto leagues.
4) Ryan Weathers, SP
The Marlins' #2 starter is a sneaky breakout candidate in 2025. Ryan Weathers was stellar over stretches last season before eventually having his year derailed by injuries.
We are certain that the high-upside starter will receive plenty of innings next season. While pitching for a poor Miami club will limit his win potential, he should be a stable source of strikeouts, innings, and ERA.
Weathers will prove to be a worthy starter in most leagues if everything breaks right. Regardless, he is a shrewd target, in deeper leagues.
