It's obvious that Peter Bendix has an interesting plan for the Miami Marlins. Bendix has been making some good trades, that have already proven to work. It's clear that he has a plan and that he's working towards building a contending team in the near future. We now know some great news about the Trade Deadline in a few months. These are great news anyway you look at it.

The Miami Marlins may not be trading Sandy Alcantara after all.

Sandy's Beach may not be going out of business this year after all. Miami Marlins ace Sandy Alcantara is a major fan favorite and I don't see many fans hoping for him to be traded this season. Reports are now indicating that team officials are "optimistic about the team's progress". The pitching took major strides and the team is playing a lot better than expected.

Breakouts seem to be all over the place with The Fish this season. This means that the team may be a lot closer to contention than we previously expected. This specifically pertains to a major rumored trade this year. A trade of ace Sandy Alcantara has long been rumored, and it always seemed like the way that the team would go. However, we now see that things may not be as bleak as we thought.

Manager Clayton McCullough had this to say:

"Sandy has been solid, he’s been good. He felt strong in spring training. He’s felt good so far from his outings, from a health standpoint. The more times he gets back out there and he’s back into that five-day routine and getting starts back, we’ll continue to see the Sandy that everyone is accustomed to.”

Sandy hasn't been lights out so far this season, so that may lead other teams to attempt to buy low on the ace. Combined with the team playing better than expected, there's a sudden case to be made for keeping him at least until the off-season. It certainly looks like Bendix may be rethinking trading him and that he may in fact stick around if the Miami Marlins can take yet another step forward in the next two seasons.
