There are some players that the Miami Marlins should pursue in free agency, there's also another one. It's the last one that this article is focused on. It's true that The Fish have some interesting prospects on the way, but it's always a good idea to sign players that can be moved at the trade deadline for prospects. What if The Fish signed Adam Duvall?

Should the Miami Marlins sign Adam Duvall?

The Miami Marlins have a pretty shaky OF, though those players do need opportunities. Kyle Stowers is the likely left fielder. CF is likely to have Dane Myers in the mix. RF is certainly going to be there for Jesus Sanchez. Duvall is not a center fielder, but he can certainly compete with Stowers for AB's in left field, as well be in the DH and first base mix.

Adam Duvall was a fan favorite in his past stint with the Miami Marlins. Back in the 2021 season, he batted .229/.277/.478, with 22 home runs and 68 RBI in 91 games and 314 AB. Batting average has never been Duvall's strong suit, but the power has always been good. Of course, he wasn't as good with the Atlanta Braves in 2024.

In 2024, Adam Duvall batted .182/.245/.323, with 11 home runs and 30 RBI in 104 games and 330 AB. He was worth -1.4 WAR. That's probably the reason why he's still unsigned and definitely makes you wonder why he expects at least $3 million for a one-year contract. Just a season ago, with the Boston Red Sox in 2023 he batted .247/.303/.531, with 21 home runs and 58 RBI in 92 games and 320 AB. He was worth 1.6 WAR for that solid performance.

Would it make sense for the Miami Marlins to sign Adam Duvall? Why not? At best he can challenge the younger hitters and be flipped at the Trade Deadline. At worst, he would be on a one-year deal. $3 Million really shouldn't be prohibitive to sign him for The Fish. The benefits really do outweigh the negative sin this situation.
