Building up the farm system has been a priority for the Miami Marlins. It's great to know that there are promising developments already happening in the Fall League. I'm of course talking about Minor League LF Kemp Alderman. He's been very impressive so far, so it makes sense to take a look at what he's doing and what this means for the future.
Kemp Alderman is becoming a prospect of note for the Miami Marlins.
The OF is an area of need for the Miami Marlins. It's clear that the current mix just needs a lot of help. Kyle Stowers had a very disappointing debut with the team, but hopefully he can turn things around next season. Griffin Conine wasn't supposed to be a starter, but he impressed enough this season that he hopefully will take further steps forward next season.
Dane Myers is another OF with potential, but like Conine there are question marks with him. We don't know if the late-bloomer can handle a full season's workload with good results in the Major Leagues. Derek Hill might have potential too, but he never lived up to his high draft selection so far. The only sure thing is Jesus Sanchez in RF, but he's a bit of a question mark himself, as he's yet to truly break out.
All of the above out of the way, you can now tell why it's so important for Kemp Alderman to deliver. Kemp is yet to even make it to AAA, but it's still promising for the future. MLB.com's Jim Callis said this about him:
"Kemp Alderman may have more raw power and more on his to-do list than anyone in the Arizona Fall League".
Alderman is currently batting .350/.435/1.100, with 5 home runs and 6 RBI in 5 games and 20 AB in the Fall League. The power is incredibly impressive. He played in the Rookie to AA levels earlier this year and has batted a less impressive .242/.306/.391. I'm curious to see how his adjustments will carry over into the 2025 season.
Kemp Alderman could be a future star for the Miami Marlins.
