Miami Marlins Spring Training results are telling

The Miami Marlins are not headed for a good season, though I'm still excited about the upcoming game promotions. Spring Training is not particularly exciting this season, as it's more just a preview of what surely looks to be a season of disappointments. It's interesting to take a look at the standings, and see if it's going to affect the season ahead.

Spring Training standings give us a preview of the Miami Marlins season.

It's important to point out that Spring Training standings don't always reflect how the season is going to go. The Miami Marlins had a 10-12 W-L record in last season's Spring Training. The season of course went a lot worse for the team, but at least just like in ST it was a below .500 performance. The Los Angeles Dodgers have a 14-7 W-L record, it was the best in the Cactus League and it's no surprise that the team finally won the World Series in a full season.

The Baltimore Orioles had the best overall record, but ultimately were bounced out in the American League Wild Card playoffs. Interestingly, The Fish were terrible in 2023 Spring Training, finishing with a 7-16 W-L record that was the worst in the Grapefruit League. The Fish of course made the playoffs that season. The St. Louis Cardinals had the best record in Spring Training, but ended up missing the playoffs.

Looking at the standings this year, the San Francisco Giants currently have the best record at 11-3. I don't see them making the playoffs this season. The Chicago Cubs are good too at 11-4, and might actually win their division. The Toronto Blue Jays are doing good too, currently sitting with a 10-6 record, though just like San Francisco, I don't see them making the playoffs this season.

It's obvious that Spring Training standings don't matter, as the Miami Marlins are better in ST this year, compared to 2023, when the team actually made the playoffs. It's frustrating but it certainly looks like a frustrating season ahead at this time. If one thing about the record is accurate, it's a below .500 record.
