I wrote earlier about Miami Marlins broadcasting issues. We now have more clarity on the situation. At a time when The Fish need a new manager, it's frustrating to keep dealing with issues, but The Fish have another one sadly. What will happen now? How will we watch Jake Burger and Xavier Edwards now? This is a serious ongoing problem.
What is happening with the broadcasting of Miami Marlins games for 2025?
What's going to happen to Miami Marlins games in the 2025 season? How will we watch them? The now notorious Diamond Sports Group is going through bankruptcy and this affects Bally Sports Networks. DSG owns Bally and it happens to show many team's games throughout the season.
DSG has already announced the teams whose games they will no longer broadcast. The teams that they will no longer broadcast are the Miami Marlins, Tampa Bay Rays, St. Louis Cardinals, Cincinnati Reds, Detroit Tigers, Kansas City Royals and Los Angeles Angels. The Texas Rangers, Cleveland Guardians, Milwaukee Brewers and Minnesota Twins will have to restructure their broadcasting deals as their contracts expired this seasons. This is likely why Minnesota therefore had to cut payroll and weaken the team, missing the playoffs.
MLB decided to take on the broadcasts for the Minnesota Twins, Cleveland Guardians and the Milwaukee Brewers. This is good news for those teams. Fans in the markets of those teams can pay $19.99 per month or $99.99 per year to watch their games. The Miami Marlins however have not been mentioned, which is worrying news for the team. Does this mean that the team will have to spend even less money now?!
The Fish weren't expected to spend much this off-season in the first place, but unless MLB picks up the team's games, or another deal is worked out this could get catastrophic. The team is barely spending money as is, so any type of situation like this is really not acceptable. We now have to wait and see if the Miami Marlins can get some kind of deal that works in the near future.
