Bizarre poll by the players insults Jazz of the Miami Marlins

Jazz Chisholm Jr. was unfairly evaluated by a player poll

It has been a busy time for the Miami Marlins. The All-Star Game is coming up and the half-year break is on the way. It's not the best time to see some perhaps childish drama unfold. That's exactly what happened however, when players were recently anonymously polled. It was perhaps not a big surprise that Los Angeles Dodgers two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani was voted the best player in the Majors by 46% of the players polled. What about overrated?

Miami Marlins CF Jazz Chisholm Jr. was voted the most overrated player

The players voted Jazz Chisholm Jr. as the most overrated player in the Major Leagues. He received 20% of the vote. That seems pretty insane to me. Jazz is an elite speedster, who plays OK defense at a new position and who has double digit power. If he stays healthy, there's no reason why he can't put up a strong year.

It seems that many players don't value his talents and somehow underrate him. It's pretty clear to me that him being very outspoken is affecting the player vote. It also turned out that at least one player was jealous of Jazz being the cover athlete of the MLB The Show 2023 video game. This is pretty sad to hear. Players should be supporting each other and outspoken players are more honest than those who just give pre-rehearsed boring basic responses.

Jazz Chisholm Jr. has a fresh attitude and isn't afraid to wear his heart on his sleeve. He's easy to relate to and support. He's a confident player who changed his whole lifestyle and training regiment to stay healthy and play better this season. How many players would even go that far? That just shows how dedicated he is to truly being the best that he can be.

Showing how ridiculous this poll actually was, New York Yankees RF Juan Soto was actually called "overrated" as well! The anonymous player, who is most likely not a teammate and not in line to make anywhere close to his upcoming free agent deal said:

"Could be a spite pick, to be honest. I feel like all he does is walk and hit singles, and doesn't hit for power like he's portrayed. Also not a good fielder."

That quote sums up the poll very well.
