The Miami Marlins finished the season on a high note. It ultimately was a disappointing season, but there's promise for the 2025 season. It was very surprising when The Fish traded then second baseman Luis Arraez to the San Diego Padres. Many fans were understandably upset that the fan favorite was dealt. Arraez was going to reward San Diego for acquiring him, and he officially did that over the past weekend.

Former Miami Marlins hitter Luis Arraez will win his third batting title.

Luis Arraez may only be great at one skill, but that skill is elite. There's little argument to be made to the fact that he is the best contact hitter in the Major Leagues. Back in the 2022 season, Arraez played for the Minnesota Twins. That season, he batted .316/.375/.420 with 8 home runs and 49 RBI in 144 games and 547 AB. He won the American League Batting Title for that performance. He was also worth 4.2 WAR for that performance.

In 2023 with the Miami Marlins, Arraez batted .354/.393/.469 with 10 home runs and 69 RBI, in 147 games and 574 AB. This time he was worth 4.9 WAR. He also won the National League Batting Title that season. He won two batting titles in a town in two different leagues!

So how did Luis Arraez do in the 2024 season? He batted .314/.346/.392 with 4 home runs and 46 RBI, in 150 games and 637 AB. He's now in line to win the National League Batting Title. This will lead to THREE batting titles in a row. Arraez actually just barely beat out Los Angeles Dodgers DH Shohei Ohtani. Ohtani finished just barely below Arraez. He batted .310/.390/.646 in 159 games and 636 AB. He also had an astonishing 54 home runs and 130 RBI.

Luis Arraez winning three batting titles in a row is remarkable. He also won them in two different leagues as well! The San Diego Padres expect to benefit from his help in the playoffs as well. At least one of those titles was won with the Miami Marlins.
