Did you vote for the upcoming All-Star Game? You really should because some Miami Marlins players truly deserve to be voted in. NL MVP candidate second baseman Luis Arraez is luckily winning the vote for the NL second base spot. How about designated hitter Jorge Soler? Let's take a look at the vote and see if it's going fairly. I should mention though that the All-Star Game vote is usually just a popularity contest.

Jorge Soler might get snubbed out of the All-Star Game.

Luis Arraez is rightfully winning the vote to be the National League's starting second baseman. I can't complain about Atlanta Braves catcher Sean Murphy leading the catching vote either. I'm only upset that he's not on my fantasy teams. I'm a big believer in the best players at each position going to the All-Star Game, (though I since accepted that it's more about popularity.)

How about third base? That's going to St. Louis Cardinals' Nolan Arenado. Once again I have no complaints. Arenado is hitting .275/.323/.489, with 15 home runs and 49 RBI in 70 games and 276 AB. Arenado has already been worth 1.1 WAR too. Speaking of WAR, Luis Arraez has an amazing 3.1 and Sean Murphy has 2.5.

It's time to get to the subject of this article... Miami Marlins designated hitter Jorge Soler. Soler has been worth 1.6 WAR, as he's batting .260/.363/.560. He's doing that in 69 games and 250 AB. He's also doing that with 21 home runs and 45 RBI. Yes you read that right, he has 21 home runs. He's actually on pace to match his 48 home run career-high from 2019.

Jorge Soler is doing everything that you could possibly ask from him as The Fish's DH. He's not winning the NL DH vote. Who is winning? The Los Angeles Dodgers' J.D. Martinez. J.D. has a 0.7 WAR. He also has a .257/.301/.578 batting line with 16 home runs and 48 RBI. Soler has been considerably better than him. Then there's the Philadelphia Phillies' Bryce Harper with a matching 0.7 WAR. The biggest insult however is Atlanta's BACKUP C/DH Travis d'Arnaud. Travis has a 0.4 WAR with a .268/.330/.443 batting line. He also has 4 home runs and 14 RBI.

The All-Star Game is a popularity contest and at this point a joke. Jorge Soler must be the National League's DH choice and it's not even close.
