Miami Marlins 2025 rotation is an embarrassment of riches
The Miami Marlins had some surprising reasons for making some trades this year. Other trades were just plain shocking in how much value The Fish got back. With our focus now mostly on the future, you have to wonder how things look for the 2025 season. One thing for sure, The Fish have a very exciting rotation mix, with depth and upside.
The Miami Marlins once again look to have a strong rotation in 2025
Obviously the big name is going to be the returning ace Sandy Alcantara. Contrary to what some think, even if his long-term future on the Miami Marlins is in doubt, he won't be traded before next season. He'll be on an innings limit, so we won't see Sandy's Beach in full swing until 2026. There's an outside chance he might get traded at the Trade Deadline, but hopefully he will stay.
Another starting pitcher coming back from injury will be Eury Perez. The former top prospect will have a lot of hype coming his way yet again, as he will be coming back to help Sandy front the rotation. Eury will be on an innings limit as well however.
Jesus Luzardo will be part of the rotation as well. He's sadly already done for this season , but he should be healthy to go in 2025. Like Sandy, I don't see him being traded in the off-season. While unlike Sandy, I do see him as a trade candidate (as he's only under control through 2026), but he probably won't be traded until he proves to opposing teams that he's finally healthy.
It will be interesting to see how Braxton Garrett fits into the mix next season. He's been pretty bad this season (5.35 ERA/3.83 FIP in 7 games and 47.0 innings pitched). That said, he's good enough that he should at least compete for a spot.
Ryan Weathers has certainly earned himself a spot, so he should be a lock for a rotation spot next season. Edward Cabrera will certainly be in the mix and then there's "hidden gem" of a starting pitcher in Valente Bellozo. Max Meyer will be in the mix again. The Miami Marlins rotation looks good for 2025.
