Miami Marlins DH situation is more clear now

Is there a higher chance of bringing back Soler or signing JDM?

The Miami Marlins have not contacted outgoing DH Jorge Soler about a reunion this off-season. We now have more information on the situation. The Fish need lineup help and the question is will it still be possible to bring Soler back? Is J.D. Martinez available at all? Spring Training is weeks away, who will The Fish have at DH for the 2024 season.

A couple more teams are no longer after the top DH options of the Miami Marlins.

The Miami Marlins not contacting Jorge Soler so far this off-season, is a little odd. The Fish have also not offered him a Qualifying Offer, which seems to imply that the team is not interested in bringing him back. That said, it may be the case that the price is too high for him. Assuming that The Fish would still bring him back at a lower price, the field for him has cleared up.

We now know that the Boston Red Sox and the New York Mets are not interested in signing either Jorge Soler or J.D. Martinez. Today we found out that the San Francisco Giants are interested in Soler. A lot of teams can still be ruled out however. The New York Yankees, Philadelphia Phillies, Los Angeles Dodgers, Seattle Mariners, Arizona Diamondbacks, Kansas City Royals, St. Louis Cardinals, Houston Astros, Detroit Tigers, Milwaukee Brewers, Atlanta Braves, Chicago White Sox, Colorado Rockies, Cleveland Guardians, Cincinnati Reds, Tampa Bay Ray, Baltimore Orioles, Pittsburgh Pirates and the Toronto Blue Jays are all set at the position.

I don't see the Oakland Athletics, Chicago Cubs, Minnesota Twins or the Texas Rangers spending on a DH due to a combination of finances and lack of a need due to internal options. This leaves the San Francisco Giants, San Diego Padres and Los Angeles Angels. San Diego is watching their finances too and will need that spot for Manny Machado, who is recovering from elbow surgery. This leaves us with the Miami Marlins, San Francisco Giants and Los Angeles Angels as teams in need of a DH.

The Miami Marlins may be smart in waiting out the market, but not bringing in a DH will be a problem if that's the end result.
