The Miami Marlins need a middle of the order bat, and there's already a trade target for the Trade Deadline. There's a SS target for the top of the order as well. While The Fish are looking to add bats via trade, there's one very big one coming back from an oblique injury. That bat is of course CF Jazz Chisholm Jr., but can he make the difference?

The Miami Marlins are getting CF Jazz Chisholm JR. back!

Jazz Chisholm Jr. debuted as a second baseman in 2020. He batted .161/.242/.321, with 2 home runs and 6 RBI in 21 games and 56 AB. He was worth -0.1 WAR. In 2021, Jazz followed that up with a .248/.303/.425 batting line, with 18 home runs and 53 RBI in 124 games and 464 AB. He was worth 2.5 WAR.

Jazz Chisholm Jr. was back at second base for the 2022 season. That season, he missed the second half due to a lower back injury. He finished the season with a .254/.325/.535 batting line, with 14 home runs and 45 RBI in 60 games and 213 AB. He was worth 2.4 WAR. The injury was a concern, but there was hope that he'd be healthy in 2023.

Jazz Chisholm Jr. was moved to CF prior to the current season. So far this season, Jazz Chisholm Jr. missed significant time with toe and oblique injuries. He currently has a .246/.302/.443 batting line with 9 home runs and 21 RBI, in 45 games and 167 AB. He's been worth 0.4 WAR so far.

A healthy Jazz Chisholm Jr. is a good defender (yes in CF), who has power and speed. The problem is of course him staying healthy. Aa lot of fans already view Jazz as injury-prone, and if he ends up missing more time this season at some point, you have to begin to wonder about that...

The best case scenario for the Miami Marlins right now, is that a healthy Jazz Chisholm Jr. will help spark the lineup. He's very much needed in a run to make the playoffs this season.
