Miami Marlins have some good draft news
The Miami Marlins farm system is steadily improving. It's vital for the team that it continues to do so this off-season as well. There's also some other important things happening as the playoffs are in full swing. Back to the topic at hand, we now know just what chance The Fish have in securing one of the top picks in next year's Draft. Bruce Sherman brought in Peter Bendix to improve the farm...
Miami Marlins Draft odds are very promising for the team.
The Players Association made sure that the last Collective Bargaining agreement included incentives for teams not to tank. The Players Association naturally doesn't want teams to tank, as this means that teams will not spend as much on free agency. The goal for the players is always to make the most money possible, which this very obviously affects.
As of the 2023 MLB Draft, the top six picks are decided by a lottery. The lottery includes teams that haven't made the playoffs. Those teams have the highest chance at the top pick. It's important to point out that if two teams have the same record, their records from the season before act as the tiebreaker. Revenue-sharing teams can't be in the lottery for more than two seasons in a row. The other teams can't have lottery picks two seasons in a row.
The Chicago White Sox can't pick higher than tenth and the Oakland Athletics can't pick higher than eleventh. Both are obviously questionable, especially Chicago's situation after a historically bad season. So... what are each team's chances to receive the top pick?
The Colorado Rockies have a 22.45% chance of winning the lottery. They have the best chance. The Miami Marlins are actually in second place with a 22.45% chance of winning it! This is great and makes me wonder if The Fish can actually pull it off and win the whole thing. The Washington Nationals are in fourth place with 10.2%. No other NL East rivals are in contention for the spot, as they made the playoffs this season. Hopefully the lottery and the subsequent picks work out for the Miami Marlins.
