Miami Marlins hitter is making a fleecing of a trade look even better
It's still hard to believe just how badly the Miami Marlins fleeced the Baltimore Orioles. The trade that sent SP Trevor Rogers to Baltimore for now 3B Connor Norby and LF Kyle Stowers has been a gold mine for The Fish. Norby has become a core player, but it took a bit longer for Stowers. No it appears that he's getting there himself.
Kyle Stowers has been red hot for the Miami Marlins.
I still can't get over how great this trade was for the Miami Marlins. I also can't get over how terrible this trade ha sbeen for Baltimore. I don't understand why they would trade two promising young players for a starting pitcher who hasn't been good and healthy since 2021. Rogers has since been demoted to the Minors.
Kyle Stowers hit a big home run yesterday against the San Francisco Giants. His friends and family were actually in attendance and he said this:
"Awesome that they were here for it. Really, really special for me and for them. I'm super grateful for their support and that they were able to make it."
Stowers has a 90.3 Exit Velocity this season. I wouldn't be surprised if he improved it a bit next season. I really see a lot of potential with him. Miami Marlins manager Skip Schumaker had some praise for the slugger:
"He's got power. He's had a nice road trip, honestly. Really good games in Colorado, some really good swings here -- again, against really tough pitching."
Stowers does have power and that's major asset for the team going forward. He's currently batting just .209/.280/.319, with 2 home runs and 11 RBI in 29 games and 91 AB. It's obviously not looking good, but that includes his slow start. Do you know how he's been doing for the last two weeks?
Kyle Stowers is batting .359 with 2 home runs and 11 RBI in the last 39 AB. He probably won't keep it up, but he can certainly bat around .270/.280 and be a 20+ home run threat going forward. The Miami Marlins have a good player and he's under team control through the 2029 season.
