Miami Marlins players react to making the playoffs
Miami Marlins players are ecstatic about the return to the playoffs and they deserve to. It doesn't hurt to see an All-Star finally come back from injury too. In a humble brag, I predicted that The Fish would make the playoffs. I also predicted that the Texas Rangers and Minnesota Twins would make the playoffs. As well as the New York Mets and St. Louis Cardinals missing the playoffs. OK I'll stop. This is a great time to be a Miami Marlins fan...
The Miami Marlins are finally back in the playoffs.
The full quotes are here. Injured ace Sandy Alcantara (who tried hard to pitch through injury to help the team), predicted this success and celebrated hard with the team. He made sure to grab manager Skip Schumaker, so that the team could douse him in celebratory champagne. Schumaker is happy that Sandy gets to finally celebrate going to the playoffs. He mentioned how the players were tired of losing, and finally got to celebrate a major accomplishment. He was touched by Sandy's actions.
First baseman Josh Bell got to celebrate the playoff berth in the Pittsburgh Pirates' PNC Park. It's ironic as he used to play for Pittsburgh from 2016 to 2020, but never made the playoffs with the team. He implied that it's like a movie script and that it was the "icing on the cake" to do it this way. He also shared a look with former teammate catcher Jacob Stallings. Stallings played for Pittsburgh from 2016 to 2021.
Breakout starting pitcher Jesus Luzardo had his birthday yesterday, and called the playoff appearance a "birthday present". Luzardo will likely get to pitch in the playoffs and he deserves the experience. Luzardo has been an amazing acquisition for the team, and is a big part of the reason why The Fish are in this position.
The Miami Marlins are in the playoffs in a full season for the first time since 2003. This is also hopefully the beginning of a streak of winning seasons for the franchise. The fans and the city deserve this.
