The Miami Marlins have been hit by an insane amount of injuries this season. If there's any good news in this terrible season, it's that the farm system appears to be better at least...by a little bit. There are some other good news though, after a terrible start to the season, starting pitcher Trevor Rogers is finally turning the corner.

Miami Marlins starting pitcher Trevor Rogers looked like a foundational piece and a top of the rotation arm back in 2021. That season he produced a 2.64 ERA/2.55 FIP, with 10.6 K/9 and 3.1 BB/9, in 25 games and 133.0 innings pitched. It was a spectacular performance and created a lot of optimism for the future. It didn't look nearly as good almost immediately after. He couldn't stay healthy and produced a 5.26 ERA/4.32 FIP, with 9.0 K/9 and 3.7 BB/9 in 27 games and 125.0 innings pitched.

This season's bottom line results don't look impressive at first glance...he has a 4.90 ERA/4.50 FIP, in 15 games and 75.1 innings pitched. He has just 7.2 K/9 and 3.8 BB/9 and it is true that his fastball velocity dropped to 92.2 MPH from his peak 94.6 number in both 2021 and 2022.

There is some serious silver lining with Trevor Rogers, as he has a 3.03 ERA in the last 29.2 innings pitched. It's a small sample, but the results are there and are pretty impressive. This is all the more important with all of the starting pitching injuries. The season is lost, but having a respectable record is at least some kind of a possible achievement still available.

It's still important to point out that his bottom line results aren't good and neither is his fastball velocity. It is however a very positive thing that his results have been so good lately. I'm hoping that he can keep this up the rest of the way, though I'm cautiously optimistic about the current situation. Long-term it remains to be seen if he can show himself to be a rotation piece.
