MLB.com continues to disrespect the Miami Marlins

MLB.com released their weekly power rankings earlier this week. They still refuse to put the Miami Marlins on their list! The list was released right after The Fish impressively swept the Chicago Cubs at home. The Fish are being very underrated at the moment. Perhaps it's fair considering how the previous seasons have went, but it does seem that the team's obvious improvements are being ignored. At the time of release, the Miami Marlins had a 16-13 record and were tied for the final NL Wild Card spot. I know things changed since, but we're talking about that list.

The Miami Marlins are being underrated by MLB.com

The Tampa Bay Rays were 23-6 at the time and it's hard to argue them beingrated #1. I am definitely not questioning this ranking, though I do think that their hitters are overachieving based on their BABIPS. The Atlanta Braves were #2 at 18-9. Once again, I can't argue this rating. Atlanta won the World Series in 2021 and are currently the favorites to win the NL East.

The Toronto Blue Jays were #3 at 18-10. They're playing really well right now, so again no real complaint coming from me. So far the list looked pretty convincing right? The Milwaukee Brewers were at #4 with an 18-10 record. Once again I have no complaints here, as the Brew Crew are the favorites to win the NL Central (unless their injuries become too much).

The Baltimore Orioles were 19-9 and rated at #5. It was an obviously fluke start to the season, as the team's rotation just won't carry them much further. I'll spare you going over the rest of the list. There was a vote at the end of the page that showed how many writers actually participated in this ranking....

The Miami Marlins ended up at #18(!), despite having better records than most of the teams ahead. The Cleveland Guardians had a record below .500 at the time of the rankings release! The Philadelphia Phillies have recently lost a series to The Fish and were rated ahead! The Chicago Cubs were the ones who were just swept at the time! The Miami Marlins are underrated, maybe it will be for the best when the team keeps rolling along.
