Miami Marlins starting pitcher Max Meyer isn't having a good season. With newcomers making history and aces on the way back next season, the once elite prospect saw some of his shine fade away. Max however isn't giving up and has some rather bold things to say. It will be interesting to see how Max turns his career around going forward.
Max Meyer is confident in his ability to improve.
The 2025 Miami Marlins seem to already have a set rotation in place. Sandy Alcantara will be back as the team's ace. Eury Perez will be back as well. So will yet another injured starting pitcher in Jesus Luzardo. There's an outside chance that he will be traded in the off-season, but I suspect that it won't happen as teams will want to see him healthy and pitching effectively again. He is unlikely to pitch again this season.
Braxton Garrett is yet ANOTHER injured Marlins starting pitcher who will be back next season. Finally, there's also Ryan Weathers who has finally lived up to his former top prospect status this season. With all of these arms in the picture, it's not going to be easy for Max Meyer to get a lot of starts. Of course with some of the mentioned pitcher on inning limits coming back from injuries, he should still be able to get some starts.
Meyer is currently sitting on a 5.44 ERA/5.84 FIP, with 7.2 K/9 and 3.2 BB/9 in 10 games and 51.1 innings pitched. These numbers are...not good at all and are a far cry from the top prospect that he once was. Meyer however is not giving up and had this to say:
"Hitters get paid, too, but I think I'm better than a lot of them and I know once I get 100% confidence, everything's flowing well, I feel like I'm going to be very dominant.”
I really hope that Max Meyer will figure things out and end up living up to all of the hype. The Miami Marlins would really benefit from having another elite arm in the rotation.
