The Miami Marlins are or not shopping CF Jazz Chisholm Jr. There are some interested contenders here. Are The Fish trying to increase the slugger's value? Is this just a coincidence? What we know for a fact however is that the CF is now also getting starts at second base? What is going on here/ Let's take an in-depth look here...

Why is Miami Marlins CF Jazz Chisholm Jr. now receiving starts at second base?

Jazz Chisholm Jr. may be he most intriguing trade candidate currently on (or off) the market. Will Peter Bendix ultimately trade the face of the team? This is a very intriguing debate. On one hand, trading Jazz would be a massive publicity hit. He's not a free agent after the season, so it doesn't seem as if trading him should really be a priority for the team.

On the other hand, The Fish may be somewhat pushed into somewhat of a rebuild. I say "somewhat", because the Tampa Bay Rays don't do rebuilds and Peter Bendix seems to have been hired specifically to imitate that system. Reports are not making things any easier. We still don't know if he's available, not available or available for the right price.

With all of this going on, the question is why is Jazz Chisholm Jr. now suddenly playing second base again? Is Otto Lopez not good enough? Does Xavier Edwards not deserve a chance if Otto struggles? My guess is that the issue is Jazz's defensive issues in CF. It makes sense to give Jazz a chance to get back to his basics at second base. Tampa Bay values versatility and as you can see so does Peter Bendix.

Is it possible that this is actually a more complex situation? He can potentially move back to the middle infield, while also showing other teams that he can play multiple different positions. I wouldn't be surprised if that's the reason. I suspect that Jazz Chisholm Jr. will only be traded for the right return.

Whatever happens, I just want to see Jazz Chisholm Jr. get the best result possible for the Miami Marlins, be it through performance or trade.
