We already heard some good news on the progress of the Miami Marlins ace. The ace of course being Sandy Alcantara. The ace that is not going to be traded this off-season. He also just recently met with the team's new manager Clayton McCullough! It's certainly looking like things are looking up, and that there's a good chance that Sandy will be taking the mound and hopefully dominating on Opening Day.
Miami Marlins ace Sandy Alcantara is pitching on Opening Day next season.
I'm very excited for next season. I fully expect the Miami Marlins to be a better team and to potentially even be in playoff contention. I'm not predicting a pennant or a division win, but staying in contention for a Wild Card spot is certainly not out of the question. The Detroit Tigers made the playoffs this season, the Arizona Diamondbacks did so last season. Neither team looked impressive, but they made it in and both had nice runs.
It's certainly not out of the question that the Miami Marlins can do just that with great pitching. The bullpen is underrated and the rotation looks as potentially elite. There's a very good reason for optimism and to expect things to go better than this season at the very least.
Miami Marlins manager Clayton McCullough recently met with Sandy Alcantara and it seemingly went well. The new manager said this:
“he looked great, he sounded great, felt like he was really right on track at this point….All signs point to things looking very positive for the start of the season.”
I expect Sandy Alcantara to at some point be back at his 2022 NL Cy Young levels. Maybe he'll need some time to get himself in full shape, but he has the stuff and the talent to get there at some point during the season. This make sme very excited and hopeful for next season. I do hope that he will not be traded at the Trade Deadline. He would bring back a haul, but he's someone that needs to be on the Miami Marlins for his entire career.
