It's frustrating to see how many rival teams are all over the rumor mill. We can at least get excited about the prospects that the Miami Marlins have in the system. One of those prospects is none other than C Agustin Ramirez. I don't expect Agustin to be a catcher long-term, I expect him to be more in the first base/DH mix. Either way, I fully expect him to make an impact.
The Miami Marlins have an exciting prospect on the way in 2025.
I expect the Miami Marlins to be a better team in 2025. These days it isn't too difficult to make the playoffs, as you can be an 84 win team and still make them. A team that's uilt for the playoffs and goes on a hot run at the right time, can cause some damage. You can just take a look at the 2022 Philadelphia Phillies and the 2023 Arizona Diamondbacks, who both won pennants doing exactly that.
With the pitching that The Fish have in the rotation, it's certainly not out of the question that the team can be competitive for the playoffs. Injuries were a big reason why the team failed to return to the playoffs in the 2024 season. Let's not forget that when fully healthy, The Fish did make the playoffs as a Wild Card team in 2023.
This brings us to the subject at hand: catching prospect Agustin Ramirez. Agustin is the third best prospect on the team and the 96'th best prospect in MLB, according to MLB.com. He had a 20-20 season in the Minor Leagues, which is only the second time that this happened in history actually. Between Double A and Triple A, he batted .267/.358/.487 with 25 home runs and 22 stolen bases. He has very good power and arm strength. Sadly, he has serious issues on defense however.
I'm very excited to see Agustin Ramirez in the Major Leagues next season. I hope that he'll impress us, and that he can help the Miami Marlins make a legitimate playoff run as well.
