Which Miami Marlins players made the NL All-Star team?
I recently wrote about Miami Marlins 2B Luis Arraez making the NL All-Star team. I also wrote about Miami Marlins DH Jorge Soler being snubbed from the game. Today the entire All-Star Game rosters have finally been announced! So are there any Miami Marlins players joining Luis Arraez on the NL All-Star team? Are there more snubs? Are you ready to find out?
Some deserving Miami Marlins players made it to the NL All-Star team.
Luis Arraez is going to be the starting second baseman on the NL All-Star team. He very much deserves it, batting .388/.439/.478 with 3 home runs and 390 RBI in 78 games and 299 AB. He's chasing history and a second consecutive All-Star Game selection is a great reward mid-season. I'm very curious to see where in the batting order he will be. He bats lead-off for the Miami Marlins, but he could end up somewhere else in the NL team's batting order. Did I mention that he leads all Major League second basemen with 3.6 WAR.
Remember the Jorge Soler snub? The DH is batting .245/.343/.521, with 22 home runs and 47 RBI in 80 games and 290 AB. The best DH in the game has been worth 1.2 WAR this season. I was very upset about him being snubbed from starting in the game before. Luckily, he was somewhat redeemed by finally being added to the NL team's roster. He's added as a substitute, but at least he's going to be on the team. He deserves to be in the middle of the team's order, but will have to settle for coming off the bench.
No Miami Marlins pitchers have been added to the National League All-Star team, but at least two deserving bats made it in. Of course the disappointing road sweep at the hands of the Atlanta Braves is what is on the fans' minds. There is still a second half to play and the Miami Marlins are going to the playoffs. That is the most important thing in myn opinion. The All-Star Game will be fun and I hope to see both Luis Arraez and Jorge Soler make an impact in it.
