It was only a few months ago, when the Miami Marlins looked to have an elite rotation. After some injuries and trades, we're now living in a whole new reality when it comes to it. The rotation is going to be worse and have some significant question marks. We now know that there is a whole new candidate for The Fish's rotation that we haven't seen coming at all!

Adam Mazur is a candidate for the Miami Marlins rotation.

There is some buzz on Miami Marlins prospect Adam Mazur making The Fish's rotation out of Spring Training. Mazur is a 23 year old who made his Major League debut with the San Diego Padres in the 2024 season. He pitched to a 7.49 ERA/6.23 FIP, with 5.9 K/9 and 5.6 BB/9 in 8 games and 33.2 innings pitched.

At first glance, Mazur's production is nothing to get excited about. That is until you dig deeper into his ability. The 2022 Big Ten Pitcher of the Year for Iowa, he was traded to The Fish in the Tanner Scott trade. There wasn't much talk about him after the trade, but now the buzz is that he has a real chance at making the team's rotation out of Spring Training.

Adam Mazur can hit 98 mph with his fastball. He also has a solid changeup and a slider. He has good control, which he showed off in the Minors. His fastball is still his elite pitch, but it certainly seems as if his secondary pitches are making improvements as well.

The 2024 results have been uninspiring, but can he really turn it around this season? I'm very curious to see if he will really take steps forward in Spring Training this year. He does seem to at least have the potential to do so. It's not uncommon for pitchers to take some time to develop into better arms, and it could be that he simply experienced growing pains in 2024.

I hope that Adam Mazur lives up to his former top prospect hype and helps the Miami Marlins in the 2025 season.
